Ein Benefizkonzert. Für die Bill Graham Foundation. Mit diversen Grateful Dead-Coverbands. Und mit Chan und John von Blues Traveler und den Spin Doctors. Und mit Gästen. Und sensationellen Jams. Und einem Besucher namens Marc Millman, der mit seiner Handykamera mitgefilmt hat – Gott sei Dank!! Hier sechs ergreifende Momente vom 27. Mai, die mir auf YouTube untergekommen sind. Und, for sieben’s sake: die Doctors in voller Länge. Mann, wär ich da gerne dabei gewesen.
Chan und John singen Alone. Kommentar marcmillman: After a set by Moonalice, Popper & Chan took the stage to play a few acoustic tunes at the Bill Graham Memorial Fund raiser Concert @ Irving Plaza. This was the first time Popper had played guitar in a year. This is how they did it in NYC back in the late 80s/early 90s at the likes of Nightingale, Mondo Perso, Mondo Cane, Wetlands and a few other venues that no longer exist. The third set would have a room dripping with sweat as Popper sang the sweet tunes like this one until the band kicked back in to rock it on out.
Spin Doctors mit Erik Lawrence, „How Could You Want Him (When You Know You Could Have Me)“. Ehrfurcht. Kommentar marcmillman: A real treat from the Doctors of Spin. They brought out the son of their mentor, Arnie Lawrence to play sax on this song from their 1st album at the Bill Graham Memorial fund raiser which took place @ Irving Plaza (or The Fillmore).

Kommentar marcmillman: It was a nite to celebrate Bill Graham’s legacy at the First Graham Memorial fund raiser. So what could be better than the funky Doctors breaking into a sweet Jerry tune?!?!
John und Chan singen 100 Years, unterstützt von Chris Barron und einem Perkussionisten. Schließlich mein Highlight: John Popper zu Besuch bei den Spin Doctors – Shinbone Alley. Kommentar marcmillman: As part of the Bill Graham Memorial Fund raiser Concert @ Irving Plaza, the Spin Doctors brought their old friend John Popper on stage to blaze through a version of a song they used to do when the Doctors & Blues Traveler used to segue into each other on double bills.
