Für die Schriftstellerin Sandra Boynton machen Amerikas Musiker im Moment fast alles – seit über zwanzig Jahren schreibt Frau Boynton lustige Bücher, darunter zahlreiche Kinderbücher. Und zu manchen Büchern gibts CDs mit Songs berühmter Musiker. Und zu manchen Büchern mit CDs gibts dann auch gern mal einen Grammy.
Im Herbst erscheint ein neues Werk, es trägt den Titel „Dog Train“. Und neben Hootie & The Blowfish, den Beacon Brothers, Weird Al Yankovic and Kate Winslet (im Duett!) sind eben auch Blues Traveler und Spin Doctors mit an Bord. Spin Doctors Record Song for Children’s CD!
On Thursday, March 31, 2005, the Spin Doctors gathered in NYC at Avatar Studios, formerly known as The Power Station, to record a track for the 3rd CD from the wonderful Sandra Boynton. Sandra has enjoyed great success over the past 20 years, with dozens of children’s books to her credit.
In 2002, she released her 2nd CD, Philadelphia Chickens, which was nominated for a Grammy in the „Best Musical Album for Children“ category. The accompanying book to the CD was also #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list. The Bacon Brothers, Meryl Streep and Eric Stoltz were just a few of the artists to perform a song for this very successful album.
Now, in 2005, she prepares for her newest release, Dog Train, with 18 artists recording her latest 15 songs. Though still in production, several tracks have already been recorded by the Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, The Bacon Brothers and Hootie and the Blowfish. Many more artists will be recording their tracks over the next few months, highlighted by a strange, yet very exciting duet between Weird Al Yankovic and the beautiful Kate Winslet.
The Spin Doctors contribution to this record is Tantrum, a high energy, funky-as-hell, guitar-blazing rock track which will certainly grab the younger audience with lyrics such as „I’m a wild child, and I’m gonna make a scene. I’m a wild child. Let me show you what I mean.“
The CD is expected to be released in October 2005 in two formats…the CD itself, as well as a CD/Book combo package. With these wonderful songs from Sandra Boynton, performed by this great collection of artists, one can only assume another Grammy nomination is coming her way next February.
